I design and make unique handbags, quirky accessories, homewares and upcycled furniture for those of you who are looking for something just a little bit different.
My creations have a distinctive style as I use vintage and remnant fabrics which often include tapestries and embroideries. My favourite part of designing are the embellishments. I like to use old buttons, hand crochet flowers, vintage brooches, old jewellery and anything else I have collected in my various tins that I think may come in useful one day!
I set up my company Carara Designs over 12 years ago. I have always worked from home in Bournemouth on the south coast right by the sea, and I now have my very own studio (or as I like to call it ‘shedio’) at the bottom of the garden. I am totally self taught however my mum always made her own furnishings and clothes, her mum was a tailor and my gran was a milliner so I guess it was inevitable I would be creative.
I also sell via Etsy: Carara Designs on Etsy
If you would like to join one of my craft classes the next is on 22nd March on how to make a cushion cover with a zip, details are on my facebook page.
